Overview

This is a 4.6 mile round trip out and back backpack to one of the most spectacular overlooks in the Monongahela National Forest. Approximately 500' of elevation drop to get to the campsite with gain going back. Trails tend to be muddy and wet. We may have to walk a ways for water. Bear canisters or Ursacks strongly recommended. If you don't have one you will be using the leaders rope system and will carry it as well.

Leader

I have been leading backpacking trips for the Appalachian Mountain Club and the Adirondack Mountain Club since 1975. I enjoy taking the time to look at the scenery and have a relatively slow pace. I am patient with beginners and enjoy helping them learn new skills.

(Email this person.)

'It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.' Sir Edmund Hillary. I love outdoors and started hiking in 2015. I have summited Uhuru peak, Kilimanjaro in 2019, Everest Base camp, Nepal in 2018. I am slow paced and smell the roses kind of hiker. I am interested in exploring new hikes and help others gain confidence to be outdoors and enjoy the nature.

Leader

Life is meant for spectacular adventures. Let your feet wander, your eyes marvel, and your soul ignite. Never stop exploring. I am an avid hiker and have done many hiking/backpacking trips to Shenandoah and West Virginia. I hike at a moderate pace and love to go with small groups to explore the trails. "Climb mountain not so the world can see you, but so that you can see the world!"
