Overview

Beavers are amazing creatures! They are often called "ecosystem engineers" due to their ability to create their own habitat, and habitat for other wildlife. Did you know that beavers have transparent eyelids? That they have a second set of fur-lined lips that allow them to chew and drag wood underwater without drowning? Beavers were nearly extirpated due to demand for their fur, but have recently been making a comeback. Come join AMC Boston 20s & 30s to learn more about beavers in this environmentally-themed book club. This month's title is "Eager: The Surprising, Secret Life of Beavers and Why They Matter" by Ben Goldfarb. The book club will be paired with a beaver-themed walk along the Bay Circuit Trail in Boxford MA, where we can view a beaver dam and evidence of beaver "sign" along the trail. The walk will be held on Saturday, November 6 (trip posting forthcoming).
