Overview

The Hancock mountains, named after our nation's forefather with the famous signature, offer an enjoyable day hiking adventure with 2 peaks on the NH48 list of 4,000 footers. This 9.1 mile (with 2,631 feet of elevation gain) loop trail is primarily moderate, however it does get tough the last mile to the top of North Hancock. At some portions hikers will have to trek on rocks and scrambles. Hikers should have recent-ish 4000 footer experience to join this hike. To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out.
