All abilities and beginners welcome! Join us for a 1-hour accessible outdoor holiday walk & wheel you can do at your own pace! A 1-hour indoor educational presentation will introduce the outdoor experience. Coffee and tea are available indoors. Masks required indoors. Please pack-in, pack-out snacks to enjoy indoors or outdoors. Special Event: 10-year Anniversary. Our 0.1 mile wheelchair-accessible garden trail system offers access to seven unique horticultural areas: Cut Flower Garden, Kitchen Garden, Orchard Ave., Ornamental Trees & Shrubs, Raspberry Patch, Cedar Grove & Tunnel, and Koi Pond. Rest-Stop-Ranch is a private home and garden in Topsfield, MA. ( Trail Conditions: Wheelchair-Accessible Brick-laid trail loop is 0.1 mile. Inner and Connecting trails are 0.05 mile. Trails are 3-5 feet wide. Chairs, benches, and a 10-foot-long accessible picnic table are available. Elevation: Gain from lowest point to highest point is about 10 feet. Group limited to 10 cars (parking). 10am - 11am Meet at the Caretaker's Cottage for a hot cup of tea or coffee, and a slideshow presentation of the phases of accessible trail development. Presentation, Q+A (Inside - Accessible Building) 11am - 12pm Explore and enjoy at your pace: the MargFMac Front Garden Loop (0.1 mile) Seating is available approximately every 20 feet - enjoy bird-watching, wrapped in a blanket, as you nibble a favorite snack! Topsfield offers a "Holiday on the Green" on this 1st Saturday of December, 3-7pm. Drive South to Topsfield Center to enjoy holiday shopping, refreshments, art, and more. We'll sign a waiver before we head out on the trails. Pack water and a snack. Face mask required inside. Wheelchair-Accessible Port-a-Potty available. Service dogs welcome - on leash.

AMC Trip Policy

COVID 19 Information: As of December 1, 2021 AMC requires volunteers be vaccinated or receive a negative PCR test within 72 hours of the start of an event. AMC relies on the honor system for compliance. Participants may be required to wear masks, provide proof of vaccination, or in the alternative a current (within 72 hours) negative PCR test as a condition of attending this event. For your personal safety, you should expect to be in the presence of vaccinated and unvaccinated people in all AMC settings and should make choices about participating accordingly.

Mary is all about "all abilities and beginners welcome." She and her life partner Karl R Ackerman have built, and continue to build, accessible gardens at their home in Topsfield, MA. Having hosted hundreds of guests with different abilities over 10 years, they realized brick, wood, concrete, or black-top is required in our region for best outdoor access for all. Mary's background includes User-Experience Design. She holds an M.A. in Ministry from Boston College.


Judith is a keen hiker and loves to explore the trails in the MA state parks & reservations and town conservation areas. In 2020 she section-hiked the MA Mid State Trail and this year she is exploring the Bay Circuit Trail.
