Registration is required for this activity.

Adventures using the AMC's high hut system explore the rugged beauty of New Hampshire's White Mountains. Participants will learn about mountain ecology and public lands as they build camaraderie and conquer the challenge of New England's highest peaks. Activities include day hiking, trail work, and backpacking to the huts. Varied levels of outdoor experience and skills are welcome. All will enjoy this trip, which will emphasize the group experience as well as skills development. This trip (TW0622) can be combined with TW0522, AMC's 6-day Teens High Huts Adventure on July 17 - 22, 2022, which explores the Franconia Range in Franconia Notch. The combination creates a 12-day trip with the transition night (7/22/22) spent at the Camp Dodge with AMC staff supervision. All three trip components must be booked individually. Accommodations: July 23 - Camp Dodge Trails Center July 24 - Camp Dodge Trails Center July 25 - Mizpah Springs Hut July 26 - Lake of the Clouds Hut July 27 - Madison Springs Hut July 28 - Pick up at 3:00 pm Day 1 - Participants meet each other and the AMC staff at the Pinkham Notch Visitor's Center. The morning includes getting to know each other, covering logistics and expectations, and thoroughly checking personal gear. After lunch, the group heads out for a day hike in the area and then travels 5 miles down the road for the night at AMC's Camp Dodge Trails Center. Day 2 - Post hearty breakfast, the group will spend day two working on improving a hiking trail in need of upkeep. Trained Camp Dodge trail staff offers necessary safety guidelines as well as the tools and techniques of trail work. All group members help pack in lunch and tools to the trail work site, which will be selected with the group in mind. Days 3 - 6 - After being transported to Crawford Notch, participants shoulder their packs full of clothes and lunches for four days of hiking surrounded by the region's fabulous forests, streams, and vistas. Night destinations, spread along the northern Presidential Range, create an impactful one of a kind above tree line hiking experience. AMC's Hut Crews prepare breakfast and dinner. Participants pack personal gear, their sleeping bag, and lunches. Camp Dodge and the High Huts have one person bunks in non-gendered bunk rooms with bathrooms and changing rooms for privacy. Bunk room size ranges from 4 to 16 bunks per room. Non-trip guests use the facility at the same time as Teen Wilderness groups. All facility guests will eat together and use shared facilities, like single-stall rest rooms. Teen Wilderness staff provide active oversight and will sleep near participants for supervisory purposes.
