Square Ledge (52 WAV) in Winter

Date and Time

Sunday, January 30, 2022

New Hampshire, White Mountains,

Registration is required for this activity.

Visit Square Ledge (on the 52 with-a-view list) in winter. Depending on conditions, we may include nearby destinations such as Mount Wonalancet and Wonalancet Hedgehog. Hoping to avoid the crowds, we might need to break trail on our snowshoes! Will need to pack crampons for the final ascent of Square Ledge. Pace: moderate. Maximum distance/gain (includes Mount Wonalancet and Hedgehog): 9 miles round trip, 3000 ft of gain. All participants must present a copy or image of their vaccination record for COVID 19 or proof that they have received a negative PCR test within 72 hours of the start of the hike. Participants are required to bring a mask to wear during any emergency or similar situation that requires people to be within close proximity for an extended period of time. To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out.

AMC Trip Policy

COVID 19 Information: As of December 1, 2021 AMC requires volunteers be vaccinated or receive a negative PCR test within 72 hours of the start of an event. AMC relies on the honor system for compliance. Participants may be required to wear masks, provide proof of vaccination, or in the alternative a current (within 72 hours) negative PCR test as a condition of attending this event. For your personal safety, you should expect to be in the presence of vaccinated and unvaccinated people in all AMC settings and should make choices about participating accordingly.

Jon finished a round of the New England Hundred Highest just before heading off to the Southwest for four years. He's thrilled to be back in New England and working seriously on the winter 4000-footers. Other fun had in the meantime includes the Pikes Peak Marathon and a rim-to-rim-to-rim run of the Grand Canyon. Goal-oriented but interested in keeping things safe and fun.
