Overview

Fly to Phoenix, stay 8 nights in the Red Rock Country of Sedona, Arizona. Hike 5 to 8 miles per day, gaining 750 to 2,100 feet, at altitudes 4,300 to 6,500 feet. Beautiful views of vivid red sandstone, towering pinnacles, sheer canyon walls and massive red-rock formations. Explore lush, thickly vegetated, Oak Creek Canyon and architecturally stunning Chapel of the Holy Cross. Learn about Native American cliff dwellings. Experience vortex sites and an evening of stargazing. Hike to Bell Rock, Courthouse Butte, Oak Creek Canyon and Cathedral Rock. Cross over Soldiers Pass and Mitten Ridge Saddle. Summit Bear Mountain (6,480'). Spend late afternoons exploring the shops, galleries and museum in Uptown Sedona or relaxing at our hotel pool.

Bill joined the AMC in 1995 with a goal of summiting the 48 New Hampshire 4,000 footers, which he achieved in 2009. He has also climbed all of New England's 100 highest peaks. Bill became a hike leader for the Connecticut Chapter in 2005 and has led over 125 day hikes, as well as lead or co-lead over 10 weekend trips to New Hampshire's White Mountains. Bill has led or co-led Adventure Travel trips since 2010.

Kathleen Miller is a Connecticut Chapter leader with a life-long love of everything outdoors. Kathleen has climbed all 100 highest summits in New England, earning the AMC 4000 footers award (2013), followed by the New England 67 (2017) and New England Hundred Highest (2018). She has also climbed 23 of 46 peaks in the Adirondacks. Kathleen has led several trips in the Western US, including a 6 day backpack and summit of Mt. Whitney (14,497 ft.), the highest point in the lower 48 states.
