Craving fresh powder? Wondering why you moved to New England? We can offer the quintessential Northeast skiing experience in the Stowe, Vermont back(side)country that may or may not include fresh powder. Based on current weather, our goal is to explore the backcountry trail system, accessed from above Stowe's Nordic Center, that includes the Skytop, Burt, Bruce, and Steeple trails. See Mt. Mansfield area tours in David Goodman's "Best Backcountry Skiing in the Northeast" book for more information on these touring options. This event is for experienced riders in ungroomed and gladed terrain who are willing to explore new trails while looking to meet new folks. Riders must be comfortable with 8 to 9 miles and +2,000 ft uphill skiing ("skinning"), skiing black-diamond runs under variable conditions, and they must know how to use their alpine touring ski, tele, or splitboard gear - metal edges are required. Be prepared to spend a full day in the backcountry, dress in layers (avoid cotton), and bring enough water and snacks. A Backcountry pass is required of all participants, purchased through Stowe's Nordic Center for $18:
