AMC's Hermit Lake Shelters, below Tuckerman Ravine on Mt. Washington, is looking for new Information Volunteers to assist the caretaker on busy weekends in the summer. Volunteers check-in campers and and orient them to the facility; give trail advice and share information about trail conditions, weather, and backcountry safety; and answer questions about the AMC and its mission. A backpacking stove, fuel, and basic cooking gear are available on-site for volunteers. Essential qualifications: multiple days of recent experience hiking Mt. Washington, camping experience, and an outgoing, friendly personality. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, AMC members, fully vaccinated for Covid, and pass a criminal background check. Schedule and Time Commitment: Information Volunteer stints are on the weekends, with volunteers arriving late Friday afternoon or early morning Saturday, and departing late morning on Sunday. "Info Vols" commit to volunteering at least two weekends a year (additional volunteering is welcome), for at least three years. Training: Training includes an in-person training on Sunday, May 1st, at AMC's Highland Center, as well as a few online evening sessions in May.
