Registration is required for this activity.

(best time to call: 9am - 5pm, Monday - Saturday)

Spend a week with a crew of 8 and an AMC Trails staff member working on trails in Acadia National Park. Enjoy satisfying work, the company of fellow stewards, and a beautiful setting. SCHEDULE: This program begins at 4pm on Sunday, with time to meet and greet your crewmembers and settle into the camp before dinner. Monday through Thursday, the crew will spend days at the worksite. Workdays typically run 6-8 hours. There may be time afterward to hike, relax, or use one of the camp's canoes on Echo Lake. Friday is an optional recreation day, where you are free to explore the island. Departure time is 9am on Saturday morning. THE WORK: The crew will be working on a section of trail identified by the National Park Service trail crew. The project may involve installing side ditches, drainage structures, steps, or other trail maintenance projects. Crews work rain or shine. The hike and work can be strenuous, but this crew is designed to engage volunteers with no prior trail work experience. Transportation is provided by van to and from the project trailhead. ACCOMMODATIONS: Echo Lake Camp has single-occupant canvas walled tents furnished with cots. Our lodging will be modified in accordance with COVID-19 guidance at the time of the program. Please reach out with questions or concerns. The camp is rustically comfortable with electricity in the dining room, and library with fireplace and plenty of books. There is a full bathhouse with hot showers. The facility will be closed to other guests. RECREATION: Acadia National Park has limitless recreation opportunities - carriage paths for biking, hikes like Beechcliff and Acadia Mountain close by, and access to canoes and Echo Lake right from camp. Please note that as of February 2022, all participants must be fully vaccinated by the CDC's definition to participate on AMC trips. If this is not possible, participants can opt to take a PCR test 72 hours prior to trip departure. Negative results will be accepted in place of vaccination. If this policy changes, registrants will be notified.

AMC Trip Policy

To provide an environment that allows AMC Outdoor Programs to continue to operate during the pandemic while mitigating risk for all group members and staff, we have modified our operations based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), input from AMC's medical advisor, and in response to specific guidance in the states we operate. Based on specific program attributes, AMC will require program participants be fully vaccinated, or share the results of a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of your program start. Any COVID-19 vaccine approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) is an acceptable vaccine for the purposes of this policy. View the fully vaccinated definition as determined by the CDC. While individuals participating in programs will be required to verify vaccination status or share a negative COVID test result, participants should expect to be in the presence of both vaccinated and unvaccinated guests at AMC facilities, including bunk rooms and dining areas. Participants seeking accommodation based on religious or medical reasons may be subject to additional protocols beyond testing. This includes the potential for mandatory masking when maintaining social distance is not possible.
