Paddle trip on the Housatonic River starting in the morning from Fred Garner Riverside Park to New Lenox Rd. Optional afternoon continuation downstream toward Wood Pond and back to New Lenox Rd if time permits. The 6 mile trip from Fred Garner to New Lenox Rd., passing through Audubon's Canoe Meadows Sanctuary, is rather secluded and teeming with wildlife. This stretch of the river has current and constant bends and is suitable to experienced paddlers who can maneuver their boats with precision. Participants must bring their owns boat and PFD which should be worn at all times while on the water. Water, snacks, lunch, and weather-appropriate clothing also needed.
