Introduction to Backpacking: White Mountains

Join AMC Outdoor Guides on an introductory backpack. AMC's Outdoor Guides will introduce backpacking skills such as backcountry travel considerations, Leave No Trace ©, map reading, and campsite cooking. The first night is spent at the Highland Center Lodge for trip orientation and gear review before setting out for a 2-day, 1-night trip to an established backcountry site in the White Mountain National Forest. Participants will need to carry a backpack with personal as well as group gear and food to the backcountry site. PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS: Learn backpacking skills: backcountry travel, LNT, navigation, backcountry cooking, and camp set up Free use of all gear and equipment for backpacking Travel through beautiful remote terrain in the White Mountains COVID-19 Response AMC's COVID response priorities are safety, transparency, and mission. We continue to follow the science and recommendations from CDC. This includes a vaccination requirement for all participants in this program. Exemptions: AMC understands that medical or religious exemptions must be considered. Those to whom medical or religious exemptions apply must receive a negative PCR test result within 72 hours of the start of this program.
