Writers of all levels and interests, join the mountains with the landscape of your writing ideas at our beautiful Highland Center Lodge, with Appalachia journal Editor Christine Woodside. Many writers already realize that their work is not merely an indoor, sedentary pursuit but that the best ideas come in a flash while we are doing other things that have nothing to do with writing. The mountains can deliver this flash. We will help you find it and write it. This workshop is for writers of all levels-anyone who wants to use the backcountry to tell human stories. Christine Woodside has been the editor of Appalachia since 2007. She started her journalism career in 1981 and has hiked thousands of miles with others and solo, mostly in the East, including her thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail. Her essays in Appalachia include "Fear of Rattlesnakes," "Four Quartets and Eight Legs" about T.S. Eliot and her AT thru-hike, and her editor's column, "The Long Way Home." She edited two Appalachia anthologies, New Wilderness Voices, and No Limits but the Sky. She just earned a master's degree in history and plans a new book about New Jersey tenant farmers. She lives in Deep River, Connecticut. COVID-19 Response AMC's COVID response priorities are safety, transparency, and mission. We continue to follow the science and recommendations from CDC.
