Overview

Join us for the classic Tour de Mont Blanc ("TMB"), a ten-day circular trekking route (plus one rest day) around the base of Mont Blanc in the Alps in France, Italy, and Switzerland. Enjoy amazing mountain views, iconic Alps hamlets, and strenuous hiking with lots of elevation gain and loss. English-speaking guide throughout. The is a "not to be missed" lifetime bucket list trip. The views are amazing, with lots of dramatic peaks (including the Grande Dame herself, Mont Blanc), picturesque mountain hamlets, grazing cows, flowing streams, and generally is a visual paradise. We fly to and from Geneva, Switzerland, with a ground transfer of about one hour to Les Houches, France where we start and end our actual trek. Each day we hike from one village to the next, often going up and over high mountain passes between the villages in adjacent valleys. In a few locations we use cable cars, or buses to bypass short areas, so this is not a "purist's" TMB. However by the end you will feel you can say you truly hiked the Tour of Mont Blanc! We have one rest day in Courmayeur, Italy to experience the Monte Bianco Skyway high speed tram high above the glacier with amazing views to Mont Blanc. Our lodging is mostly at 2-3 star hotels in twin rooms with a mixture of private and shared baths. 2 (possibly 3) nights we'll be in dormitory style accommodations with shared dorm rooms and shared bathroom facilities. One of these nights will be at Refugio Bonatti in Italy, a classic hut or refuges. Breakfast is included every morning (this is a light European style breakfast). Lunches are on your own with the possible exception of some group French picnic lunches - there are local markets where you can buy bread, meat, and cheese, or some locations you can buy a bag lunch. Most dinners are included, but two nights you will be on your own so you can enjoy your choice of local restaurants. To join this trek, you must have recent strenuous hiking experience with back to back hiking days, since this is a very strenuous trip. Come join us for a spectacular trek in the Alps!
