Burlington, VT,
Vermont, Green Mountains,
VT United States
Join us for 3 days of biking in the beautiful Burlington, VT/Lake Champlain region. If the border is open, we will ride into Canada to enjoy lunch in the lovely village of Venise-en-Quebec. A valid passport or passport card is required for the trip to Canada. We will view landscapes of picturesque coastline, quaint island life, and rolling Vermont hills and mountains. Each day will offer at least 2 ride options: one a moderate, 12-13 pace averaging 23-44 miles and one advanced ride of 14+ with a range of 43-59 miles. Elevation gain will vary depending on the route. Friday's rides will begin in downtown Burlington, traveling across the Colchester Causeway and Bike Ferry to South Hero Island and a winery. Saturday we will either do a remote start north of Burlington and ride well into Canada, or do a loop from Burlington to Plattsburgh, NY, involving 3 ferry rides and a visit to Ausable Chasm, a scenic canyon. Sunday will offer a choice of rides south of Burlington along the edge of the Green Mountains, on a beautiful bike trail beside the Winooski River, or more hilly terrain. Most roads are pavement, but some scenic roads and bike paths are packed dirt or gravel. There is a non-refundable Registration Fee of $35.00 payable to AMC once registered for the trip. This fee will cover food for one Happy Hour as well as partially defray volunteer leader costs (such as navigation, lodging, setting up and leading rides, logistical support, and meal arrangements). Participants will self-pay for lodging, food, and any ferry services. Once you've registered, the hotel information will be e-mailed to you. Saturday and Sunday breakfast will be included in the hotel fee. Lodging will be approximately $215.00 per night (per room), which includes a 9% lodging tax. Rooms have either two double beds or one queen bed, so that cost can be shared with roommates. If people are seeking a roommate, we can try to help but are ultimately unable to guarantee this. Participants should consider this when booking a room. No hotel rooms should be booked until you are accepted on the trip. We welcome newcomers, so will hold 3 rooms for folks new to AMC or who have never participated in a weekend trip with AMC, until June 15th.
COVID 19 Information: As of December 1, 2021 AMC requires volunteers be vaccinated or receive a negative PCR test within 72 hours of the start of an event. AMC relies on the honor system for compliance. Participants may be required to wear masks, provide proof of vaccination, or in the alternative a current (within 72 hours) negative PCR test as a condition of attending this event. For your personal safety, you should expect to be in the presence of vaccinated and unvaccinated people in all AMC settings and should make choices about participating accordingly.
