The ability to apply basic backcountry first aid is vital for any outdoor enthusiast, whether it's for yourself or others. Moving beyond urban first aid, this course teaches the skills necessary to identify and treat medical issues common to wilderness settings and to prepare for long-term care scenarios. Under the hybrid Wilderness First Aid model, you will be required to view roughly 12 hours of the content virtually at your own pace, followed by a single day practicum led by one of AMC's professional staff members.? Participants who successfully demonstrate the skills taught during the virtual and practical components of the course will be issued a SOLO Wilderness First Aid certification. This course may be used to recertify a current SOLO Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification. A CPR certification will be offered in the evening of the practical day, this is optional. Program Highlights: -Focuses on the basic skills of: Response and Assessment, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Environmental Emergencies, Survival Skills, Soft Tissue Injuries, and Medical Emergencies -Coverage of topics blends virtual and classroom instructional sessions with hands-on practice in the outdoors -Nationally recognized certification for 2 years Sample Practicum Day Itinerary: 9amClassroom & Practical Session 12pm Lunch 1pm Classroom & Practical Session 4pm Class end 5pmOptional CPR training COVID-19 Response? AMC's COVID response priorities are safety, transparency, and mission. We continue to follow the? science and recommendations from CDC. At this time, this includes a vaccination requirement for all?participants?in?this training.? Exemptions: AMC understands that medical or religious exemptions must be considered. Those to whom medical or religious exemptions apply must receive a negative PCR test result within 72 hours of the start of this training.
