New Hampshire, White Mountains,
NH
This trip is primarily a training hike for those participating in the AMC Presidential Range Hike (PRH), but others are welcome, space permitting. Hike three 4,000 footers in the White Maintains! We'll climb Carter Dome Mountain (4,832), South Carter Mountain (4,430) and Middle Carter Mountain (4,610) in a loop covering about 13.1 miles and 4,484 feet of elevation gain. These mountains sit in the Carter-Moriah Range, which runs along the northeastern side of Pinkham Notch. Our pace will be moderate but steady, and we expect to finish in about 9 hours. The main goal is training over rugged White Mountain terrain with plenty of climbing, but we certainly will pause to enjoy the view if the day permits. We'll also visit Mt Hight if the weather and group energy cooperates. Participants are required to bring a mask to wear during any emergency or similar situation that requires people to be within close proximity for an extended period of time. The planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified to address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out.
COVID 19 Information: As of December 1, 2021 AMC requires volunteers be vaccinated or receive a negative PCR test within 72 hours of the start of an event. AMC relies on the honor system for compliance. Participants may be required to wear masks, provide proof of vaccination, or in the alternative a current (within 72 hours) negative PCR test as a condition of attending this event. For your personal safety, you should expect to be in the presence of vaccinated and unvaccinated people in all AMC settings and should make choices about participating accordingly.
