Join fellow AMC Boston 20s & 30s members for an evening paddle on the Charles River! We'll meet at the Allston/Brighton location of Paddle Boston (formerly Charles River Canoe and Kayak) at 6pm. We'll aim to paddle for about 1 to 1.5 hours. This section of the Charles River is flatwater, so we will paddle out and back to where we started. While walk-up rentals are an option, you can also reserve a boat ahead of time to ensure availability - see the signup form for links to reservation page and rates. Both kayaks (single or tandem) and canoes are available. A single kayak is $30 for 1.5 hours, which includes paddle and lifejacket. Lifejackets are required to be worn at all times. Wear clothes and shoes that can get wet and dirty. We recommend you keep electronics in a drybag or tightly-sealed plastic bag. Personal bags can be attached to the top of the kayak but might get wet while paddling, so we recommend bringing a drybag if you have one (the leaders will also have them, but space may be limited). Since we'll be on the water with limited shade, bring sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen) as well as layers, as it can be cool and windy on the water (cooler than on land!). Additional details (including carpool signups) can be found on the registration page.
COVID 19 Information: As of December 1, 2021 AMC requires volunteers be vaccinated or receive a negative PCR test within 72 hours of the start of an event. AMC relies on the honor system for compliance. Participants may be required to wear masks, provide proof of vaccination, or in the alternative a current (within 72 hours) negative PCR test as a condition of attending this event. For your personal safety, you should expect to be in the presence of vaccinated and unvaccinated people in all AMC settings and should make choices about participating accordingly.
