Overview

The Potomac Chapter is seeking a new Treasurer for 2023! The Treasurer is an officer of the Executive Committee and plays a critical role to ensure that our Chapter is both well-run and effective. As the Treasurer of the Potomac Chapter you will share responsibility for managing the Chapter and engaging with fellow AMC Members across the mid-Atlantic states. On a regular basis, you will be responsible for accounting for all Chapter related expenses and income via an Excel spreadsheet set up for this exact purpose. You will also be responsible for managing the Chapter's debit card, PayPal account, and reimbursements. You will participate in quarterly AMC Chapter Treasurers Meetings where you will meet and work with your fellow AMC Chapters' Treasurers as well as AMC Finance Office staff. You will also participate in six, bi-monthly Chapter Executive Committee meetings each year. At the end of every calendar year, you will be submit an annual audit report to the AMC Finance Office documenting the past year's finances. Finally, you will team up with the Chapter Chair in preparing and seeking the Chapter's Executive Committee approval of an annual budget for each upcoming calendar year. The outgoing Treasurer will fully train the incoming Treasurer and has documented, in great detail, the responsibilities of the role. Please reach out to the Chapter Chair (Lisa Novins, info below) with any questions or if you would like to volunteer!

COVID 19 Information: As of December 1, 2021 AMC requires volunteers be vaccinated or receive a negative PCR test within 72 hours of the start of an event. AMC relies on the honor system for compliance. Participants may be required to wear masks, provide proof of vaccination, or in the alternative a current (within 72 hours) negative PCR test as a condition of attending this event. For your personal safety, you should expect to be in the presence of vaccinated and unvaccinated people in all AMC settings and should make choices about participating accordingly.

While I'm still new to hiking with AMC, I am completing my fourth year on the Potomac Chapter Executive Committee. I have been an avid hiker and camper for many years. I love introducing people to the outdoors -- whether hiking, biking, skiing, paddling, or camping. I grew up playing outside in Virginia, and am starting to introduce my two young kids to my favorite outdoor spots in the region.
