Overview

Join us for a backpacking trip in the Bigelows overlooking Flagstaff lake in Maine. We'll meet on Friday for some car camping close to our trailhead, and on Saturday, we will hike in from Stratton and choose our mileage based on how the day looks. Note that the hike will include steep, rocky, and exposed terrain above tree line. This trip is suitable for people with recent backpacking experience. Pace: moderate. Difficulty: strenuous. All leaders and participants must bring a mask on the hike for emergency purposes but are not required to wear it during hiking. Total mileage: 14 miles. Total elevation gain: 4700 feet. To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out.

AMC Trip Policy

For your personal safety, you should expect to be in the presence of vaccinated and unvaccinated people in all AMC settings and should make choices about participating accordingly.

Jon finished a round of the New England Hundred Highest just before heading off to the Southwest for four years. He's thrilled to be back in New England and working seriously on the winter 4000-footers. Other fun had in the meantime includes the Pikes Peak Marathon and a rim-to-rim-to-rim run of the Grand Canyon. Goal-oriented but interested in keeping things safe and fun.
