This trip is part of the Boston Chapter Winter Hiking Program (WHP) and is only open to enrolled participants of that program. If you would like more information about the WHP, please email us at whp@hb.amcboston.org We will be gathering at a campsite on Saturday while we still have some daylight. We will have a fire on which we will cook baked potatoes in aluminum foil, steak tips on a grill and vegetarian lasagna in Dutch ovens. You will sleep in a tent, that you must provide, on Saturday night. Carpooling and tent sharing are strongly encouraged. Early Sunday morning we will break camp and hike to Lonesome Lake Hut, where we will make a quick breakfast. The only meal we are providing is Saturday's dinner. You provide breakfast and lunch for Sunday. Cancellations made before 1/14/2023 will be given a full refund, but only if a replacement participant can be found. Following breakfast, we will attempt to summit the Kinsmans using snowshoes, microspikes and crampons, as appropriate. Full winter gear, except an ice ax, will be needed. To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out.
