Big Bend NP,
Other U.S.,
TX
Big Bend National Park is a remote and beautiful part of Texas. The combination of three very different types of hiking - mountain, desert, and river canyons - is spectacular. The park has allured hikers for the exceptionally diverse geology, and ecology, as well as the serene, all-extensive remoteness from daily business. We will be surrounded by rugged terrain, scenic canyons, and arid plains. Each day, we will hike trails over moderately strenuous terrain at a moderate pace. Some of the hikes planned are the South Rim Trail Loop, The Lost Mine Trail, and The Window Trail. We will also visit the Big Bend State Park to enjoy stargazing (Darkest Skies in Texas). We also plan on some non-hiking activities such as a fossil discovery exhibit, historic Terlingua Ghost town and an optional paddle on the Rio Grande.
