Overview

Do your kids love making their own tracks? Do you backcountry ski, but aren't sure how to bring your kids along? Are your kids wishing for friends on their ski adventures? Come explore Greeley ponds at a family friendly speed. We will ski to Upper Greeley Pond from the Kancamagus. From the pond we will see the cliffs on East Osceola. On the descent, you will enjoy turns on the twisty woods trail. The difficulty is similar to a touring center black. Prerequisites: Prior backcountry skiing experience, or confident on blues & blacks at a touring center. Can ski or hike 5 miles on rolling terrain Equipment: classic skis (wax or waxless. Metal edges or skins optional.), day pack with ten essentials - https://www.outdoors.org/trip-ideas-tips-resources/gear-advice/ten-essentials-gear-checklist Terrain: Ungroomed x-c black Distance: 6 miles Skills to learn on the trip: turns in trees, herringbone, route finding, breaking trail, family management in the cold. It is possible to do this trip with AT or Telemark skis, and I have had one family tow their child on alpine skis. Contact me with questions about options. Whether mother nature gives us fresh powder or fresh ice, we will have fun playing in the woods. Check out more family ski trips at https://amcnh.org/committees/ski/family-ski-series/
