Join AMC Outdoor Guides on an introductory backpacking weekend! AMC's Outdoor Guides will introduce backpacking skills such as backcountry travel considerations, Leave No Trace ©, map reading and compass skills, gear and equipment selection, campsite cooking, and more. The first night is spent at AMC's Joe Dodge Lodge for trip orientation and gear review before setting out for an overnight trip to an established backcountry site in the White Mountain National Forest. Participants will need to carry a backpack with personal as well as group gear and food to the backcountry site where we will spend the night in tents. PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS: Learn backpacking skills: safety considerations, route planning, LNT, navigation, gear and equipment selection, backcountry cooking, camp set-up, and more. Free use of all gear and equipment for backpacking Travel through beautiful remote terrain in the White Mountains and stay in a tent on the second night

*One night lodging at AMC's full service Joe Dodge Lodge. Members of the same party sharing a lodge room are charged an additional but reduced per person rate.
