Overview

Join an empowering Women's+ trip with AMC Guides to the enchanting Carter Notch Hut nestled in the heart of New Hampshire's White Mountains. Experience the awe-inspiring beauty of fall as the landscape transforms into a vibrant tapestry of oranges, reds, and yellows. This adventure offers a perfect blend of camaraderie, challenge, and relaxation, tailored specifically for women seeking to explore the great outdoors in a supportive group setting. Our journey will begin at AMC's Joe Dodge Lodge, a cozy and welcoming base where the group will meet for the first time. This initial meeting is a chance to connect as a group and the guides will review the plan for the weekend, expectations, safety protocol, gear, weather conditions, etc. and will be a chance to make sure everyone is feeling confident and prepared about the trip to come. For those needing equipment, we have gear available to borrow at no extra cost. The next morning, we'll set out for a scenic hike through the White Mountain National Forest, on the 19-Mile Brook Trail, where crisp autumn air and the sound of crunching leaves underfoot accompany us to our mountain refuge. We'll hike along a cascading river as AMC Guides will share insight into outdoor skills and local natural history, pointing out interesting flora and fauna along the way. Expect to form lasting connections with fellow adventurers who share a passion for nature and outdoor adventure. Upon arrival at Carter Notch Hut, the group will take time to rest, explore nearby lakes and boulder fields and if timing, interest, and weather allow, we'll explore nearby trails. Embrace the simplicity of hut living, with communal meals and shared stories of the day's adventures. After a night's rest in the all-gender shared bunk rooms and breakfast, the guides will choose a trail down based on weather and interest for the group. We will return to the trailhead and drive back to the Lodge for a final lunch together and say our goodbyes. Prepare for an unforgettable fall adventure in the White Mountains, celebrating the strength and spirit of women in the great outdoors! Women's+ (and Marginalized Gender) These experiences are led by women, trans and non-binary folks for members of these marginalized genders. What is a marginalized gender? Trans men and women, non-binary, and two-spirit people, in addition to cisgender women, are members of this group who have been historically marginalized based on gender.
