Join the AMC NH 20s & 30s Chapter the 4th of July weekend for a backpacking trip from Franconia Notch to Galehead hut. - Friday night the option to camp at a nearby campsite close to Franconia Notch will exist. This is usually a good time for further planning & socializing. - Saturday morning the group will meet in Franconia Notch, & a number of participants will be asked to help spot a car off of Gale River Road. - Saturday the group will hike to the Galehead Hut via a route which is to be determined based on weather. The distance and elevation gain on Saturday could be between 10 & 14.5 miles with anywhere from between 5300 to 7500 feet of elevation gain. Conditions & group choice will determine. - Saturday night the group will stay in the Galehead Hut. The hut will be full service at this time. A dinner & breakfast will be provided. - Sunday the group will hike 4.5 miles out & down to Gale River Road. - Before being approved for this event you will be screened & a fee of $200 will be collected for the cost of the stay+tax, & campsite fees.
