Cook Forest State Park,
Pennsylvania, Western,
PA
Please join us for an end of summer camping weekend in northwestern Pennsylvania at Cook Forest State Park. Schools will be back in session and the parks will be less crowded and there may even be some early fall foliage on display. This will be my first time at this park which is known for its 45 miles of hiking trails and the 13 mile stretch of the Clarion River that flows through it. The park is just south of the 500,000-acre Allegheny National Forest (the only National Forest in PA) offering boundless hiking opportunities. On past trips we have also organized trail runs and cycling outings and side trips to local points of interest. There is a local outfitter that offers group rates for water tubing on the river as well. More to follow on that. Last time at Ohiopyle we attempted our first under-the-stars movie night. I thought it went quite well so we will be doing it again featuring a compilation of short documentary movies focused on outdoor activities. Cost will be $40 per person and includes a shared campsite, firewood and breakfast for Fri, Sat and Sun. Breakfast will consist of coffee, tea, bagels, cream cheese, jelly, as well as scrambled eggs or pancakes. Tends to be a picky bunch so the coffee is excellent and the maple syrup is real. Please register on Meetup for convenience purposes. Payment information will be provided later.
