The Hopewell Big Woods area has close to 20,000 acres of preserved woodland encompassing state, county, and federal state parks and state game lands and preserves. The Big Hike in the Big Woods will travel trails linking Birdsboro Waters, French Creek SP, Hopewell Furnace, State Game Lands 43, and the Crows Nest preserve. The course selected for the BHBW includes some of the most interesting scenic trails in the area, while keeping elevation change within a manageable range. This event is suitable for individuals who regularly hike longer distances. The BHBW presents an opportunity for hikers to attempt a longer distance with a supportive and experienced team of leaders. Participants will still be expected to satisfy general suitability standards and may be vetted by the organizers if we are unfamiliar with your current hiking condition. The event is scheduled in advance to allow time to work on trail fitness. More details to follow closer to the event.
