Youth/students: $60 for members, $80 non-members. Course participants must be 18-years old or minimum of 15-years old if accompanied by a parent/guardian. [Instructors]: - Rich Redding - [email protected] - Pat Bender - [email protected] [Description]: The Gym to Crag Intermediate course expands on the Gym to Crag Beginners Class to teach following a leader on a multi-pitch trad route. The goal of this class is to teach participants how to second a trad leader and is the path to eventually become a leader on traditional (trad) routes such as those found at the Gunks or New Hampshire. This course is intensive and involves two full days of classes, typically a week apart. During the course, we'll go over a number of technical abilities Following a lead climber, Advanced Knots, Belaying a Trad Leader, Self-Rescue Techniques, Basics of Gear Placement, and Multi-pitch Climbing. Please be aware we expect all participants to know the following: 1.) How to belay a Lead Climber in the gym 2.) How to tie basic rock climbing knots/hitches (e.g. follow-through figure eight, autoblock hitch, girth hitch, flat overhand, barrel knot, etc...) 3.) How to rappel a dynamic rope from a top managed site with a "third hand/autoblock/prusik" If you have any hesitations on any of the above abilities or have questions if you think you'd be ready, please feel free to contact the instructors and talk it out! It will be required that you bring your own if you join us for the intermediate course.
