Skinner State Park, MA,
Massachusetts, Connecticut River Valley,
MA
This trip is part of the Boston Chapter Spring Hiking Program (SHP) and is only open to enrolled participants of that program. Join us on a spring hike along the New England Trail (NET) in Skinner State Park, Hadley, MA. This trip will feature a traverse (with a "car spot") across the "Seven Sisters" along the Holyoke Range crossing the summits of Mts. Holyoke (940') and Hitchcock (1,005) as well as Bare Mtn (1,010'). The ridge overlooks the Connecticut River and could offer views all the way to Mt. Greylock (the highest peak in MA) in good visibility. Plan for a moderate pace across 5.2 miles, gaining approximately 2050 feet of elevation. Estimated hiking time for this trip, depending on the group and conditions, is up to 6 hours. You may be a good fit for a "Moderate" trip if you are participating in trips that gradually increase in difficulty level, distance, and elevation gain, including at least one SHP trip rated as "Easy" (or an equivalent outside of the program). To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out.
