Join our dynamic team to learn more about hiking and help more people Be Outdoors! The volunteer role of the Hiking Chair is to facilitate making the wonderful hikes in our area available to AMC members and other participants. This includes: - Assisting leaders with the hike planning and scheduling process - Encouraging and assisting interested hikers to become trained leaders - Learning and sharing related AMC and Chapter policies - Attends monthly Executive Commitee meetings, submits annual budget assisted by the Treasurer, and creates basic activity reports - Collaborates with fellow committee members to reach goals Qualifications/skills: •Current AMC member or become a member before being voted in •Friendly, welcoming, and capable of working with a diverse group of individuals •Organized and an effective communicator •Willing to immediately begin the process of becoming an AMC hike leader. (Being the Hiking Chair does not mean that you must be an advanced hiker or even a current AMC Hike Leader, but once in the position, taking the steps toward being a WMA Hike Leader is required.) Training will be available through the WMA Chapter. •Have access to a computer with internet and some degree of computer proficiency to manage documents and information/communication flow, or be willing to learn and utilize these resources. •Be an enthusiastic promoter of the Western MA Chapter and the Appalachian Mountain Club! While all of the above are required, what is most important is that the Chair is a member of the WMA Chapter who is willing to further the Mission and Goals of the WMA Chapter and the AMC! Curious?
