Overview

Are you interested in improving your sea kayaking skills for the season ahead? Are you an advanced beginner/Intermediate who wants to paddle in Boston Harbor and the New England coast? Are you interested in co-leading sea kayak trips and getting on a path to full leadership? Then join the Boston Chapter Sea Kayak Committee for a training session on Lake Cochituate in Framingham. Basic skills will be covered such as strokes, rescues, safety, and leadership. If you are interested in co-leading then you will work with a mentor this season who will coach you in the skill set required for planning and leading safe and successful trips. Boats are available to rent from Boating in Boston at the park.

Dennis Blejer has been an AMC Boston Chapter leader since 2006. He has led for INTRO, Bike, 40+, and Paddling. He currently leads sea kayak trips and training events. He has American Canoe Association (ACA) certifications in Coastal Kayak Trip Leadership and Open Water Skills (Level 4). He enjoys teaching others to enjoy the outdoors in a healthful way and has hiked, biked, and paddled, throughout the Northeast.
