Overview

Part 2 of the 3 part course on Intermediate Sea Kayaking. This session will cover the basics of sea kayak navigation with both practical sessions on land and on the water. Topics covered will be: chart and compass skills, boating channels and navigational aids, tides, and nav-on-the-move. Preference given to those who attended Part 1 - Basics, otherwise must be confident sea kayaking in coastal waters. This session will take place in Hingham Harbor. A 14 foot (minimum) sea kayak with fore and aft bulkheads, spray skirt, PFD, are required.

Dennis Blejer has been an AMC Boston Chapter leader since 2006. He has led for INTRO, Bike, 40+, and Paddling. He currently leads sea kayak trips and training events. He has American Canoe Association (ACA) certifications in Coastal Kayak Trip Leadership and Open Water Skills (Level 4). He enjoys teaching others to enjoy the outdoors in a healthful way and considers the Northeast to be a magnificent playground.
