Overview

LGBTQ river trip on the lower Fife Brook section of the Deerfield River (class I-II)! (June 21, July 19, August 16, September 20). What? Join other queer folks to enjoy the Deerfield River (lower Fife Brook/Shunpike/Zoar Take out section, class 1-2) for a late afternoon Friday river trip. We're calling this TGIF! - Thank Gays It's Fife! Float down the river in your preferred vessel: kayak, standup paddleboard, inner tube, canoe, inflatable rainbow unicorn, or whatever your heart desires. No prior training required! When? June 21, July 19, August 16, September 20 (you don't need to attend all - come to whatever ones you can) 5:00pm meet up time Run the river from 5:30 to 7:30 or 8:00 (dam release could affect timing and location) Optional dinner after at a Charlemont restaurant Who? LGBTQIAA2S+ people who want to enjoy time on a beautiful river Paddling skills are NOT required, but you should be able to wade, swim, and splash in a river that has current with little or no fear. Comfort in a river current and ability to swim in current are required. For folks who are learning how to paddle and want more experience, this is a great way to practice skills in easy water Thanks to NRS for supporting this event! Bring your own vessel and gear OR Rent from Zoar Outdoor (prior instructional clinic experience required) OR Contact the trip organizer to borrow gear. Gear = vessel (inflatable kayak, hardshell kayak, stand up paddle board available to borrow), paddle, life jacket (required for everyone), helmet (strongly recommended), swim wear, water shoes, water bottle, dry bag, personal medications (e.g., epi pen, inhaler), spray skirt (for hard shell kayak). First come first served. Why? If you do not identify with that group, you will be unable to register for and participate in this event in order to maintain the safety and integrity of the experience.
