Overview

We will hike through Rockwood Meadows and Peppercorn Conservation Land up to the summit of Peppercorn Hill (estimated elevation 585 ft.) which includes nice views overlooking the surrounding valley. The hike route also includes a portion of the perimeter of Lake Maspenock. The route includes some steep rocky terrain and hiking poles are recommended. The total trip is 4-5 miles. Plan to be out for 3+ hours depending on the pace of the group (which can vary). Wear sturdy hiking shoes with good treads. Be prepared for a possibly wet and/or muddy trail including deep puddles. Wear moisture wicking layers and clothing appropriate for the weather including an extra pair of socks (just in case you get soaked). Bring the following in your Daypack/Backpack: lunch/ snacks, at least 2 liters of water. Bring insect spray, sunscreen and a hat (if you use them). Hiking poles recommended. Hike information and details will be emailed to participants about 2 days prior to the hike. Parking is limited, carpooling encouraged. Steady rain/ thunderstorms cancels. No dogs allowed on the hike, thanks for understanding The hike leaders reserve the right to adjust the route if conditions warrant and cannot guarantee the hike will be completed by any specific time.
