Have you ever been curious about leading paddling trips or providing paddling instruction on the Great South Bay? How about taking a group paddling from AMC's Fire Island Cabin (FIC) to nearby towns, birding islands, the Fire Island Lighthouse, or Sunken Forest? Maybe you're a SUP yoga or SUP pilates instructor looking to offer a class at FIC, or you'd like to be part of a team that organizes a kayak/canoe coastal cleanup at Fire Island. Is leading a kayak/canoe rescue class more up your alley? Whatever your preference for leading a paddle event at FIC, this training is for you! Course content will include general outdoor leadership principles and leadership specific to paddling at FIC. We strongly encourage you to take this workshop, even if you are unable to begin leading immediately or are unsure about leading yet, but are curious to see what it entails. No commitment to lead a trip is required for you to take the course. This workshop will be offered online and interactive via a Zoom link which will be shared several days in advance. It is free of charge and conducted by dedicated volunteer Canoe&Kayak leaders who have been leading trips and training leaders for many years. Registration deadline: June 12
