Overview

The NY- NoJ Chapter has adopted two Forest Restoration sites in South Mountain Reservation in Millburn NJ. and our volunteers began working on these in 2021. These and similar sites are part of a long-term program by the South Mountain Conservancy and Essex County to restore the forest understory and ecology of the largest nature preserve in Essex County. See also the native plant reporting for this particular site on iNaturalist https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?project_id=smc-exclosure-le-17&place_id=any&verifiable=any We will meet at 9.00 AM at the parking area of the RR station at South Orange NJ. We will then drive a the short distance to the parking at South Mountain. Bring clippers and gardening gloves (many invasive species have thorns!). Also useful is a folding saw and short loppers if you have these. Other tools will be provided. Preregistration is not mandatory but it is preferred that you inquire by phone or email so that we can estimate the likely number of attendees. Bring lunch, water as you would for a hike.
