Overview

Join us on an intermediate backpack along Franconia Ridge! Prior backpacking experience is encouraged, but not necessary. We particularly invite recent Spring Hiking Program participants. The first day of our hike will be up Old Bridle trail and across Mounts Lafayette and Lincoln with about 7.6 miles and about 4,000 feet of elevation gain. We will then drop our packs at Liberty Springs campsite, with the option of Mount Liberty for sunset! On day two, we will head out and over Mount Liberty and Mount Flume, down through Lincoln Woods for a 7 mile day, with about 1,500 feet of elevation. These summits are all above treeline and provide fantastic views of the Pemigewasset Wilderness and surrounding mountains weather permitting. Participants will provide their own meals for this backpack. Stoves, water filtration and ideally tents will be shared but may not be possible with COVID. Coaching on what to and what not pack will be provided to limit backpack weight. If you are missing something, be sure to indicate what you are missing when you sign up for the trip on REGI. Campsite fee of $15/person-participants will need to bring cash to pay this fee. Participants should be in good shape, be able to maintain book time pace, and able to hike 7 -8 miles a day. To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out.
