We will be hiking approximately 6 miles with an elevation gain of approximately 900 feet. The beautiful Wilderness is a property owned and protected by the Manchester-Essex Conservation Trust. We will be hiking at an easy pace, to end the hike between 1:30 PM and 2:00 PM, depending on the pace of the group. You will be walking over varied terrain strewn with rocks, roots, and slabs with several steep and rocky ups and downs. You will be walking under and around beautiful outcroppings and pass by huge erratics, with a minor scramble. Bring the required essentials in your day pack: (no back sacs with draw strings), at least 2 liters of water, lunch and snacks, hat and gloves, insect repellant/net (no bug zappers), rain/wind jacket, first-aid and anti-blister supplies, sun screen and something to sit on for lunch. Appropriate hiking footwear required (no sneakers or sandals); your boots should be insulated and waterproof with good tread. Wear moisture wicking hiking apparel (no blue jeans or cotton), wool socks and dress in layers. Hiking poles highly recommended, as are gaiters, if you have them. Sorry, no dogs. Rain, high winds will cancel the hike. Car pooling always encouraged. Meeting spot, directions, and reminders will be e-mailed to confirmed participants prior to the hike. The hike leaders reserve the right to adjust the route if conditions warrant it and can not guarantee the hike will be completed by any specific time. **We do understand that unforeseen circumstances beyond your control may arise, which may force you to cancel, if confirmed. Please consider your wanting to participate, vs your being able to participate and your commitment to that participation, before registering; and please don't be a No Show. If you do need to cancel, please do so through your AMC account/dashboard so that your spot can be filled, in a hopefully, timely manner; and please remember to mark your calendar so you don't become a No Show.
