St John USVI,
Other U.S.,
Come share the splendid experience of snorkeling and swimming in the warm turquoise waters of the Caribbean and immerse yourself in nature on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. We will have the pleasure of staying at Concordia Eco-Resort which abuts a portion of the U.S. Virgin Island National Park. Our location on the southern side of the island is near Salt Pond Bay Beach for snorkeling and the breathtakingly scenic Ram Head trail. Concordia Eco-Resort accommodations are studio villas (double occupancy) complete with kitchenette, mini refrigerator, microwave, electricity, a/c, ceiling fan, queen bed, and a queen sofa bed. Our resort also has an onsite swimming pool. All planned hikes are moderate and will be no more than 4 miles in total. Our planned activities are designed to allow anyone reasonably fit to enjoy themselves thoroughly. For those who have no experience, snorkeling is easily learned in Caribbean waters which are typically calm and 80 degrees. Snorkeling destinations we plan to visit include Waterlemon Cay, Francis Bay, Cinnamon Bay, Hansen Bay, and of course nearby Salt Pond Bay. Flora and fauna are abundant on St. John. On land you'll likely have the opportunity to spot iguanas, peacocks, goats, and donkeys. Our various snorkeling locations are known for sightings of turtles, sting rays, angel fish, barracudas, and a plethora of aquatic species. We'll have the opportunity to visit the famed Annaberg Ruins. This site includes the ruins of a windmill, a sugar factory, a rum still, and slave quarters dating back to the eighteenth century. We are pleased to include six group dinners at various local spots on St. John. Participants are responsible for all other meals and typically plan them with their roommates. There will be opportunities to shop at local grocery markets for the purchase of breakfast & trail lunch supplies. During our trip on St. John, we have jitneys, or 7 person vehicles, provided for usage on our group activities. Vehicles will be driven by leaders and qualified volunteers from our group.
