Overview

This is a two day downstream paddle on the Deerfield and Connecticut Rivers with an overnight camp on an island. Saturday will be an 8 mile paddle with some short class one rocky riffles and an occasional fallen tree that must be avoided. Sunday will be a 12.5 mile paddle with moderate downstream currents. Experience in current & dodging obstacles required. Shuttling cars will be necessary. Participants are responsible for all personal food, boat & camping equipment. Note that as this trip begins on National Trails Day, we invite participants to celebrate by recognizing the Deerfield River as a regionally significant water trail.

David has been leading Worcester Chapter paddle trips for thirty years, both day trips and overnights. He also has led multi day non-AMC paddling and hiking trips in Maine, Vermont, New York, New Jersey, Quebec, Ontario, the French Pyrenees, Scotland, and Wales. He has also participated in outfitted trips in the Arctic in Alaska, the Northwest Territories, and Quebec, and a trip on the Rio Grande in Texas. In September 2019, David led a seven day paddle on the Allagash Waterway in Maine.
