This strenuous trip will take us up the Appalachian Trail from Cheshire to the Vermont border. Along the way, we'll summit the four highest peaks in Mass.: Saddle Ball, Greylock, Fitch, and Williams. The trip is 3 days and 2 nights, and we'll camp at tent sites along or near the AT. Total distance is about 23 miles, with daily miles of 5 to 11. We'll maintain a slow-moderate pace (about 1.5 mph moving and 1.1 overall) The terrain is varied, with several very challenging ascents and descents. Daily elevation gain/loss of up to 3000'. Participants will need to have appropriate backpacking gear to be self-reliant on this multi-day trip, including food and water. A sense of humor, adventure, and fun is also required! Sign-up preference given to those who have completed this year's Worcester Chapter backpacking workshop. Others may register, but will be wait-listed until three weeks before the trip.
