Join us for a late spring hike in beautiful Stonehouse Forest. We will be hiking approx. 7miles. This is a loop hike over relatively easy terrain with wide and single track trails. The terrain is relatively flat with gentle ups and downs, plus an assent to Ledges Loop Trail which overlooks beautiful Stonehouse Pond. After hiking Ledges Loop with its huge and beautiful outcroppings, we will have lunch overlooking Stonehouse Pond. After lunch we will descend Overlook Trail and connect to Locke Trail, and finally South Trail to complete our loop. We will be hiking at an easy pace to end the hike approx. between 2:30 and 3 PM, depending on the pace of the group. You will be hiking over soft pine needles, leaves, rocks and roots. Bring the required essentials in your day pack (no drawstring back-sacs): at least 2 liters of water, a hearty lunch and snacks, insect repellent/net ( no bug zappers), first- aid and anti- blister supplies, hat and gloves, wind/rain jacket (no umbrellas), sunscreen and an extra pair of wool socks. Wear appropriate hiking footwear with good tread (no sneakers or sandals), moisture wicking hiking apparel (no cotton or bluejeans), wool socks, and dress in layers. The trails may be muddy with wet sections so your boots need to be waterproof, if concerned about your boots, wear plastic bags over your socks. Hiking poles highly recommended, as are gaiters, if you have them Easy to Moderate Sorry no dogs. Inclement weather, high temps with high humidity will cancel. Car pooling always encouraged, as the parking lot is small. ***We do understand that unforeseen circumstances beyond your control may arise, which may force you to cancel , if confirmed. Please consider your wanting to participate vs your being able to participate and your commitment to that participation, before registering; and please don't be a No Show. If confirmed (even for the wait list) and you do need to cancel, please do so through your AMC Account/Dashboard so that your spot can be filled, in a hopefully timely manner; and please remember to mark your calendar, so that you don't become a No Show. ***The Hike Leaders reserve the right to adjust the route if conditions warrant it and can not guarantee the hike will be completed by any specific time.
