New to backpacking? Want to explore one of New England's longer distance trails? This trip is for you! Our trip will begin at the foot of Mt. Monadnock and travel northward over rolling terrain to the town of Nelson, NH. As a group, we will hike at a slow to mod pace (1.0-1.5mph) with frequent stops so we can enjoy the beautiful woods around us. There will be many other interesting and unique features to be seen! The daily mileage is about 5-6 miles/day with a total trip mileage of approximately 11miles. Some parts of the trip is a road walk (either dirt or pavement). The trip will require an early meet time on Saturday to drop off cars at the starting and ending locations. Participants need to have appropriate backpacking gear to be self-reliant on this one night, two-day trip, including food and water. We will work with you to develop hard skills to learn how to use your gear proficiently. Heavy rain/T-storms cancels. Sign-up preference given to those who have completed this year's Worcester Chapter backpacking workshop. Others may register but will be wait-listed until June 1. Trip limited to 7 participants. Registration closes on June 2.
