Overview

This virtual training prepares individuals to start leading walking, rolling, or hiking activities rated as accessible or relaxed. Read more about AMC's Activity Ratings in the links below. The Center for Outdoor Learning and Leadership Team is piloting this virtual training program over the summer and fall of 2024. It is a new program designed to prepare Leaders to start their journey and immediately lead level one walking, rolling, or hiking activities. No experience is necessary. If you're interested in leading activities rated at a different activity level or category taking this training is a great place to start with opportunity to advance your skills upon completion. The pilot team is accepting five people from each of AMC's five regions into the program for 2024 (25 in total). The team will register the first five people who sign up from each region and than add any additional folks to the waitlist. If you are waitlisted, a staff member will reach out to connect you with other training opportunities in 2024. To participate in this pilot: •Sign up in the link •A team member will reach out to you via email to confirm your registration and share the program link •You agree to complete a pre-training survey about yourself and your past leadership experience (you can opt out of any questions). The time required to complete the survey is 15 minutes. •You must complete the virtual part of the training (4 - 6 hours in total, on demand) by September 1st, 2024. •Some members of this pilot group will be asked to participate in a few hours of additional in person training at a mutually agreed upon time and location (this is to compare and contrast different training outcomes of virtual vs. in person participation). If randomly selected you can decline. •You are agreeing to lead at least three accessible or relaxed walking, rolling, or hiking activities before the end of 2024. •You agree to be "followed" for the remainder of 2024. This means that a team member will contact you a couple of mutually convenient times to ask about your experience, challenges and opportunities. This may be a virtual survey or a live conversation. You can anticipate this element to last about an hour total in duration. •Stipends are available to participate. Respond to the confirmation email you receive to inquire.
