Overview

Celebrating Ruby Horwood, the first woman elected AMC President in 1974, on the 50th anniversary. I encourage everyone to join us for trailwork and conservation to honor Ruby Horwood's legacy as a Trail Blazer. You will need plenty of water and snacks for your body, safety glasses, sturdy gloves, recommended long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and sturdy hiking shoes. Tools to bring are a small hand saw and/or shears and/or hand pruning shears. Our work and hike will include: Cutting back thorny green briars and poison ivy. Removing Japanese barberry. Dismantling fire rings. Clearing small branches with a hand saw, all along the Appalachian Trail from Little Gap to Delps Trail. We will meet at Delps Trail Parking Area (40.8081667, -75.4544444) and carpool to Little Gap.

In 2022, I walked the entire length of the Appalachian Trail and discovered the importance of maintaining and preserving the trail for future generations. During the summer of 2023, I worked as a Ridge Runner for AMC/ATC, combining hiking with trail maintenance. When I'm not hiking, I teach yoga at the Greater Plymouth Community Center, Blue bell, PA and also enjoy creating digital artwork, practing yoga and meditation daily. LNT (Leave No Trace)
