Costa Rica,
International,
Costa Rica
This is a nine-day Costa Rica hiking adventure, at a moderate pace, interwoven with practices that promote mindful engagement with the natural world and restorative yoga. We will spend the first half of the trip in an eco-lodge in Chirripo Valley, surrounded by the Talamanca Mountain range, in Central Costa Rica. We will hike in high-altitude mountains and through rural villages along one stage of the Camino de Costa Rica, as well as hike in the lush cloud forest surrounding Chirripo National Park, home of the largest mountain in Costa Rica. We will then travel to the Pacific Coast, where we will stay in a remote eco-lodge on the Osa Peninsula. Here we will hike in the coastal beauty of Corcovado National Park, which National Geographic has named "the most biologically intense place on earth" due to its incredible variety of plants and animals. On each hike we will be accompanied by a certified Costa Rican naturalist. Upon returning to our tranquil lodging each day, we will have wellness opportunities including yoga and nature meditation and enjoy delicious, nourishing local cuisine. Natural wonders abound in Costa Rica. A naturalist will lead us on a morning bird-watching hike and we'll spend a half-day snorkeling on Cano Island, a marine park filled with dolphins, sharks and even whales! We will have some cultural immersion through visiting a small "finca" (farm) in the mountains, interacting with our local guides, and spending time in a rural village where we will have a tour of small- scale gold mining on the Osa Peninsula. Our trip will begin and end in the capital city of San Jose. The trip includes all lodging and all meals except for one lunch. Neither yoga nor snorkeling experience is necessary.
