Overview

Why is it called Moose Hill and is there any possibility of seeing a moose? While it's highly unlikely you will see a moose, you will see vernal pools, a bluff, stone walls and building remains as you hike along paths and boardwalks through fields and forests. Plus, I'll let you know how the property became known as Moose Hill. The hike will be 6.5 miles with approx. 850 feet of elevation. Hikers should be prepared for rocky, uneven ground with some loose stones and tree roots. Non-cotton clothing, sturdy footwear, rain jacket along with snacks/lunch and 2 liters of water are recommended. This hike is moderate, we will start and end as a group. The leader reserves the right to alter the hike if conditions require. Steady rain will cancel. Fun facts! Moose Hill was established in 1916 and is Mass Audubon's oldest wildlife sanctuary, and Moose Hill is the second highest hill between Boston and Providence, at 466 feet. Come join us as we explore this beautiful property. Audubon property fee Adult $4, Senior $3, Audubon members:free If you are interested in carpooling please contact one of the leaders .
