A moderate paced hike of 7 - 8 miles through contiguous conservation areas in Framingham and Sudbury, including Nobscot Conservation Land and the Nobscot Scout Reservation. We will hike up both Nobscot Hill (the highest point of the Bay Circuit Trail) and Tippling Rock which features views of the surrounding valley and the Boston skyline. The total elevation gain of the route is 1,100 ft and includes some steep trails up Nobscot Hill (elevation of 600 ft). and a scramble up to the rocky crown of Tippling Rock (elevation of 426 feet). The route includes moderate and steep slopes, rocks and roots with wide and narrower forest paths. We may even see a small waterfall depending on conditions. Plan to be out for 4+ hours. Wear sturdy hiking shoes. Be prepared for a possibly muddy or flooded trail. Wear moisture wicking layers and clothing appropriate for the weather. Bring the following in your Day Pack: a lunch and snacks, 2 liters of water. Bug repellent/bug net, sunscreen, electrolytes and a hat if you use these items. Hiking poles recommended if you use them. Meeting location will be emailed to participants about 2 days prior to the hike. Steady rain/ thunderstorms cancels.
