Fire Island Cabin,
New York, Long Island,

Join AMC Fire Island Committee in their environmental stewardship efforts of our local marine habitat. On Saturday, take part in the annual International Coastal Cleanup. Leader David Hartree will lead marine debris and litter collection from the bay shoreline. Plastic pollution poses a severe threat to marine life, birds, and ecosystems. Together, we can make a real difference and protect our oceans and marine life from the harmful effects of plastic waste. Those staying on Sunday can join leader Misako Yamagishi for garden clean up and preservation with a focus on the cabin's composting efforts. By participating in this weekend you will contribute to the restoration of our coastal ecosystem and raise awareness about the urgent need for sustainable practices. It's also a fantastic opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who share your passion for environmental preservation. You can meet new friends, exchange ideas, and collaborate on future initiatives. Stay for the weekend at the Fire Island Cabin or come for the day. The Day Guest fee is reimbursed for participants in the cleanup event(s). Overnight guests taking part in the Saturday's beach cleanup will receive a rebate of $25 for members, $30 for nonmembers. Questions about Saturday's cleanup should be directed to David Hartree at [email protected]. Questions about Sunday's cleanup should be directed to [email protected]. Included in this weekend for overnight guests is a shared bunkroom or tent, hot outdoor showers, a screened porch, decks and use of shared kitchen. Beach equipment and sailboats (if led by an authorized sailor), kayaks, canoes, stand up paddleboards, yoga equipment, hammock, and a gazebo with a library and board games available for use.
